DEBRIEFING DISC WITH AN INDIVIDUAL

Overview

DISC is a simple and practical framework that increases an individual’s understanding of an important aspect of personality - behavioral style.

See instructions below for debriefing an Everything DiSC report.  Allow 60-75 minutes for debrief.

Before your debrief meeting:

  1. Read the story of the learners report (e.g., page FN-3 in Catalyst Workplace), making notes in advance highlighting key words, allowing you to speak to the results fluidly.
  2. Read the Supplement for Facilitators (accessed with report in EPIC) to further personalize the experience. Note their dot location, priorities graph and where they answered outside their style. I do not recommend showing this report to the client. Better for you to understand it and talk them through additional data, making the result more resonant.

CATALYST WORKPLACE (debrief within Catalyst)

  • Sign into Catalyst
  • Show learner how to download report (three horizontal lines in upper right corner, download on menu)
  • Go to DiSC-ology - to overview the DiSC model
    • Two-dimensions
    • Four styles overview
    • Cornerstone principles (all styles are equally valuable, everyone is a blend, work style is influence by other factors)
  • Direct them to Your DiSC style (Learn about your style)
  • Your dot
  • Your story
  • Podcast
  • Go to the What Drives You section for greater self-awareness
    • Priorities (describe the words around the circle)
    • Motivators and Stressors (have them look at list and identify one or two that are accurate for them and how they show up in their work)
    • Strategies (have them see if any one of the three listed is a development priority for them)
  • You and other styles
    • Have learner guess someone else style (Active-Thoughtful and Questioning - Accepting) and guide learner through that person’s style as an example)
    • Go to You and other styles, look at the style they identified for that person
    • Then take learner to Build Better Relationships for the style they identified for that person
    • Link to dive deeper on example to Build Better Relationships
  • Compare with others:
    • Go to Your Colleagues
      • Select a colleague
      • Review maps together, similarities and differences
      • Tendencies
    • Your Groups - have learner create a group (if colleagues are in Catalyst)
